Christmas List

Written on October 29th, 2012 by sassymomno shouts

The most wonderful time of the years is almost here and my Christmas list is not yet in full swing. I can do this!

My god-children first and then my kids– who happens to have their own Christmas wish list from everyone. They are teenager now, and it’s not easy to please teenagers nowadays. Their gift choices are quite expensive and Santa needs to work doubly hard this Season. Good thing I have very generous siblings who can afford to give them the luxury of an expensive gift.

As for me, simple gifts are appreciated. It’s the though that counts. But if someone would like to give me a michael kors chronograph watch– that would be perfect.

Putting up Christmas Decors

Written on October 29th, 2012 by sassymomno shouts

Every year, I look forward to putting up Christmas decors. I usually do it after the Halloween and with my busy schedule nowadays, I am forced to take a leave just to spend time with my family and do these things.

Every time I put up Christmas decors, I am inclined to buy curtains, to have that feeling of everything new in my eyes. I wish I can still do that this year. If not, I have to settle with what I have. More important is that my house will have that Christmas feel. And I will achieve that no matter what.

Too much politics

Written on December 16th, 2011 by sassymomno shouts

Watching the news these days is really disappointing. While the Christmas girl is me is still checking if everyone on my checklist has a gift, others are so busy fighting and exchanging harsh words.

The other week, after being slapped with an electoral sabotage case, Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo while awaiting trial, following a Pasay City court’s approval yesterday of her petition for hospital arrest, refuses to ride an air ambulance service provided by the government but instead prefers to be transported via a bulletproof bus. This incident resulted in the exchange of harsh words between the two camps.

This week, members of the Congress fastracked the passing of the impeachment case against Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona, which reportedly was pushed by no less than the President himself.

I can only shake my head in disgust! It is no secret that my brother in law is a Senator, but we are not a political family. I just can’t get it. Probably, the reason for my disgust is because of the timing. This is Christmas, people should be thinking of the reason why we are celebrating…

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. -John 3:16

Yes, not too long ago, my husband’s family especially my BIL, was a victim of political harassment. But I could not wish it to happen to any family.

I just hope that we can all move forward and know by heart the reason for this season.

Christmas Break

It’s official! School is out for both my kids. Yippeee!

Well, my boy was out since Thursday and today is my daughter’s last day of school. Two weeks of long undisturbed sleep which I am so looking forward to. I am also eagerly awaiting our annual family get-together which will be in a beach resort this time. I just pray that the weather will cooperate. :-) Crossing my fingers!

Business is peaking

Written on November 7th, 2011 by sassymomno shouts

It’s our third exhibit for our bazaar business and we can already feel the Christmas rush… sales are peaking up and I am so happy. As we countdown the days towards Christmas, more and more shoppers will look for Christmas gifts and of course, to buy things for themselves that means more sales for our bazaar.

We have learned a lot from this experience, and now we are confident about our market and the items that we need to sell as well as the items that are saleable. It was a trial and error thing for us to know what the market wants, but we have learned.

Joining bazaars is a preparation for us to have our own store. I hope that this Christmas season, we will be able to save enough money to fund our rent for own store, that is our ultimate goal. Soon, we’ll have our POS and well be using thermal printers like Epson TM-T88V. I can only dream :-)

Bazaar Business

Written on November 3rd, 2011 by sassymomno shouts

Yes, I have ventured into another business, the bazaar business! Together with my sis-in-law, we decided to take the risk knowing that everybody will be rushing to buy stuff for Christmas gift-giving. This is the business I was talking about in my other blog.  I couldn’t hush up because of the excitement and finally we are operational. So far, so good! We are expecting sales to peak up some more come December.

As I observe the saleable items, I am amazed. I refuse to think that I am not a trendsetter, it’s just that I have my own fashion statement. But I guess as entrepreneurs, we need to adjust to what the market dictates and not be stubborn about what we thing will sell — that is the first lesson we have learned.

Going around, I am surprised to see items that sell like the trend now are “Angry Birds”, anything about it. I have also funny shirts that spoof brands, couple shirts, and of course, accessories. However, people who have been in the bazaar business tells me that come December, everything sells. Since people love to give during Christmas.

I am praying that this venture will prosper and that even if it’s not Christmas, we will still find the right location to sell our goods.

Relieved and Excited!

It’s official! The kids are on a Holiday Break! I am relieved. Now, I can focus my attention with baking my orders and doing my errands without rushing back to pick them up.

Now, the kids can relax and do whatever they want without me checking their home work. Ain’t that a relief? I am finally done with all the gifts –except for hubs (wink). I have always believed that the Christmas season is really for kids and it melts my heart to see the twinkle in their eyes whenever they open their gifts. When I did my Christmas shopping list, the priority was our nephews and nieces, the adults will always come second.

However, amidst the merriment of the season, you just can’t refuse to go to parties and gatherings here, there and everywhere. Which means, calories, calories and calories. Although, I am excited to touch base with family and friends, counting my calorie intake is always at the back of my head. Christmas is not a good time to go on a diet. I promise to go back to the gym after the Holidays, and see if I have some savings left for a non-surgical procedure or if not, probably a fat burner like Lipofuze might help.

For now, I’d like to take pleasure and enjoy this very joyful season. I thank the Lord for the blessings that I am able to share….

Stress free Christmas

Cellphone HolderAside from the pastries which I will bake the day before I will give them away, I am almost done with my Christmas list… and I am so relieved!

I guess this is a milestone for me, for the past  years I have always been a victim of the “Christmas Rush” and it contributes to my stress — mainly because I do not have the time to do it earlier than usual. I thank the Lord for all the blessings that He have showered our family that I did not only have made time to shop for Christmas gifts but gave us the means to purchase the gifts.

Now, I can say that I am nearing my goal of a stress-free Christmas and just enjoy the season. Even my kids are almost done with the gifts for their friends. My daughter shopped on her own to buy her gifts while my son of course, is still dependent on me. He chose to give mobile phone holders with the sports theme instead of the real basketball, tennis ball or football gift.

Truly, I am overwhelmed by the blessings! Once again, I have experienced how the hands of God works in mysterious ways. Thank you, Lord!

Christmas Decorations

Christmas at homeMy house is ready for Christmas!

Yes, every year I put up the Christmas tree right after Halloween. It’s been a tradition. Why that early? I take the opportunity since Halloween is when the kids are on a semestral break so they can help me decorate the house.

I just love the Christmas season and decorating the house with all those lovely ornaments gives real pleasure to the eyes and it also provides a cozy atmosphere at home.

Now, my kids are requesting some Christmas stockings. They tell me that it reminds them of when they were little. They would come home from school and find some Christmas loot on their stockings everyday, that’s when they still believe in Santa. Oh well, gone are the days! But at least, they have very good childhood memories.

I am now thinking of ordering Personal Creations children’s stockings ,for a more personal touch!

Christmas is indeed a happy occasion, and I want the season to last as much as possible.

Stress free Christmas Shopping

Written on October 22nd, 2010 by sassymomno shouts

Christmas treeAlthough Christmas is my most favorite time of the year, it can be a very stressful time especially for moms like me who take care of all the gift buying duties.

I try to make Christmas shopping less stressful by shopping early, like this year, I have started to shop as early as September. However, there are circumstances that are beyond our control like our cash flow that do not permit me to shop on time.

No worries! I always make it on time, no matter how stressful it is. This year, my aim is to change the Christmas decors at home and I have been looking around for different christmas trees that would fit my style and of course, my budget.

After Halloween, I usually dress up the house with Christmas decorations for a more festive feel.

Hopefully, this Christmas would be a little hassle free. It’s usually the immediate family members that are more difficult to shop for since you need to adapt it to their individuality.

It’s always fun to give gifts. As I always say, “It’s always better to be on the giving end.”

I hope you all have a stress free Christmas shopping.
