I am blessed to have a wonderful and talented daughter like you. It gives me pride to see you grow up responsible and with full of dreams. Keep it up my daughter! The world is yours to conquer. Papa and I will always be there for you.

My prayer is that you continue to be strong in faith. The Lord will always lead you to the right path. I love you.

Personal Touch

I was overwhelmed when my home got home and excitedly handed me a pink handmade card. Awwwww! With all the technology available nowadays, I appreciate it  more when my kids present with something they made on their own. It reminds me of my growing up years, when there were no computers and colored printers, my brother and I would make cards, be it birthday, valentine or Christmas, out of bond paper. We’ll try all sorts of stuff that we learned from art class. Cut papers, melting colors, etc. It was so much fun :-)

My kids would often tell me that they don’t give me gifts because they do not have money but the thing is, I do not need expensive gifts. I tell them that you do not need money to make me happy. This year perhaps the most valuable gift I received is the handmade birthday card from my son. The though that he spent the time (in school –take note!) to make one birthday card for me is very much appreciated.

The advancement of technology can sometimes bring a lot of disadvantages when our children are not properly guided. I love that mobile phones can make communication faster, that social networking can bridge the distance between people who are million miles away, that there is now a lot of gadgets like tablets, golf gps finder that make our lives easier. However, we need to guide our children in the proper use of technology, with all the news of crimes resulting from its use.

Likewise, we need to reiterate that we still need to have the “personal touch” when it comes to nurturing relationships with our family especially with our children and of course, our parents, who are mostly not adept with technology. Somehow having the “real presence” and “personal touch” still spells a lot of difference.

Deciding on what to give

Written on January 2nd, 2011 by sassymomno shouts

birthday-gift-balloonA birthday is a celebration of life. People often celebrate birthdays by way of gift giving, no matter how simple it is.. It is always the idea that you are remembered that counts the most.

In deciding what to give, especially to my friends, I always make sure that I give them something that they can use. As a gift giver, it’s a nice feeling to see that your friend wears or uses the gift you have presented them. It does not need to be expensive, the more you know the person, it will be easier for you to choose and decide on what gift to give.

There are a lot of websites you can choose if you do not have time to stroll the mall, as for me…. Malling is one of my stress busters (wink). But for those busy people out there, online shopping can be very convenient. Like if you are looking for fiftieth birthday unique gifts, the wide variety of items available for gift giving can surely give you more options to choose from.

As long as it comes from the heart, all gifts are worth a treasure.

Thank you for this Life

Birthday Cake candles

Another year to grow and I am so thankful for the wonderful life I am enjoying right now. It is not without humps along the way but those are all the spices of life.

As I turn a year older I look back at the person I have become, just like looking though a pair of binoculars, I try to magnify at the things I have accomplished as well as the things I have missed. There’s no use crying over spilled milk yet it still is essential to try to look at things you should have done better not to dwell on it but to make room for improvement.

Words cannot express how grateful I am for the life I have right now. For my amazing family, my loving husband, my wonderful and talented kids and for the friends who have been there to support me all the way. I know I am blessed not because I am worthy of such but because God is gracious.

Now looking forward, whatever the future holds for me, I shall only pray for strength. For I know tomorrow is unclear but I shall face it with a renewed faith and increased motivation.

Dear God, Thank you for this Life!

Another year to grow in wisdom…

Written on September 20th, 2009 by sassymom5 shouts

As I turn another year older, becoming old is simply not what I feel but I rather consider myself growing in wisdom. The past year has made me realize a lot of things in life, events that really changed my perspective – as I see things more differently now, more than ever.

To begin with, I would like to reflect on my present blessings, which so many people tend to neglect, myself included. Whatever challenges or difficulty life has posed on me, I have literally paused for a while, count every bit of blessing that I have received and picked myself up form where I left off. Here I am now, allowing myself to realize how blessed I am, experience the wonderful gifts that surround me and becoming a medium of blessing to other people.

This has truly been a very good emotional and spiritual exercise for me. Like a glass full of water, I had to empty myself out in order to allow more graces to come in.

Blessings come in different shapes and sizes, it does not only mean material wealth – because I honestly do not have that. It’s how you maximize (to the fullest) the resources around you. For you may have a piece of good fortune in your hand, but if you do not use this to open up opportunities for you to grow and progress, it will wear out in time.

Opportunities should be something that promotes or contributes to people’s happiness and well-being and not only centered on your self.

I remember this Sunday’s gospel, Jesus said to his disciples “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.” And from the priest’s homily which I am quoting, “It is not thinking less of your self, but thinking of your self less.”

I know I will not be the same person I am many years from now, but one thing I know, is that I shall willfully give thanks for the things and events of my daily life, however little it may be. For it is in my belief, that the more you are thankful, the further you are blessed.

To my family, who continues to be my source of strength and inspiration, I am so grateful that the Lord has chosen me to be part of your lives.

To my relatives, friends, and my readers, who have in one way or the other have touched my life and enriched me to be the person I am now… my sincerest gratitude.

To my creator, thank you dear God, for everything I have now comes from You and I offer them back to you in praise. And I pray that I shall be the person you want me to be.
