Winter Clothing

Written on December 14th, 2012 by sassymomno shouts

First time I am here in the US and it’s winter, although there’s no snow in the places I have visited, it still is very cold! It’s fun to wear boots and jackets all day… one thing I cannot do when you live in a Tropical country.

Even in LA, California it becomes very cold at night especially when it’s raining. I wear socks even when I go to sleep.

I have shopped for winter clothing (that’s what I call them). Now they will have their own space in my closet since I won’t be able to use them. At least, I already have them. I shopped here instead of back home since I can look for bargain prices here. Next, I will have to buy my kids so that when we travel, they will also have their own winter clothing.

Packing my Balikbayan Box

Written on December 14th, 2012 by sassymomno shouts

After a month here in the United States, I can’t wait to go home and see my family. But my trip would not be complete without sending a Balikbayan Box or should I say boxes — this is where I stuff all the goods I have shopped and will be shipped home in a month’s time. I just love shopping here in the US. Great finds at cheap price! Plus I can buy things that are not sold in Manila.

As I write this post, I am done packing my first box. I am sealing the second box on the day that I will leave. It’s actually my 3rd box– the first one I sent during my first leg in San Francisco. Sorry! I can’t help it. I arrived two days before Black Friday and I panicked! LOL!

I just need to make sure all the things I bought are safely tucked in the box the “fragile items”. As for me, I also need to take care of myself in packing these items especially in handling the single edge razor blades.

Christmas List

Written on October 29th, 2012 by sassymomno shouts

The most wonderful time of the years is almost here and my Christmas list is not yet in full swing. I can do this!

My god-children first and then my kids– who happens to have their own Christmas wish list from everyone. They are teenager now, and it’s not easy to please teenagers nowadays. Their gift choices are quite expensive and Santa needs to work doubly hard this Season. Good thing I have very generous siblings who can afford to give them the luxury of an expensive gift.

As for me, simple gifts are appreciated. It’s the though that counts. But if someone would like to give me a michael kors chronograph watch– that would be perfect.

Putting up Christmas Decors

Written on October 29th, 2012 by sassymomno shouts

Every year, I look forward to putting up Christmas decors. I usually do it after the Halloween and with my busy schedule nowadays, I am forced to take a leave just to spend time with my family and do these things.

Every time I put up Christmas decors, I am inclined to buy curtains, to have that feeling of everything new in my eyes. I wish I can still do that this year. If not, I have to settle with what I have. More important is that my house will have that Christmas feel. And I will achieve that no matter what.

Back to wearing heals

Now that I am back to working, I am also back to wearing heels, which is strains my knees after a long period of time –that’s because of my knee injury. Although, I’d love to wear flats, but heels is a must in our office.

Now, I need to choose the perfect height and the kid of heels to wear… and Wedges are the most comfortable of them all. I can stand all day with my wedges. That’s I just choose and shop for  fashionable wedges nowadays.

The other day, I was manning the mall and I saw an old man roaming around the mall with a knee scooter — probably from the knee scooters at andrew street – and I kept picturing myself doing that when I grow old. I had to stop the thought. I don’t want and refuse to grow old with a scooter in tow. I just pray that I’ll grow old without having to depend much on anything or anyone.

I love to accessorize!

Written on February 22nd, 2012 by sassymomno shouts

Anyone who knows me well would know that I love to wear accessories. As to how many my collection is, I have no idea. But there are a few pieces that I consider my favorite like the sterling silver jewelry that my former boss gave me as a send off gift when I left the company. Another one is the multi-colored ring I bought from a jewelry maker of whom I used to be a regular customer.

Just like make-up, I can’t go out without wearing any accessory even if it’s my watch, a bracelet or a simple pair of earrings. Fashion accessories can totally change a simple outfit. If you really want to be a fashionista, wearing fashionable dresses are not enough.

From scarves, shoes, belts, hats, purses and many others, these fashion accessories will define your style. Everyone carries their own fashion statement, young and old, even if you’re a man or a woman. Wearing accessories will enhance your look. So remember to always choose the one that will suit your taste and you will never go wrong.

Prom Night

Written on February 21st, 2012 by sassymomno shouts

Being a parent always has its challenges and rewards especially when you have a teenage girl. There are a lot of pressure from  people around them coupled with their raging hormones and the struggle to find a place in society. That is why it is important for parents to always be there for our teenage kids.

Recently, I had a chance to bond and share my hip and trendy beauty regimen with my teenage daughter. She attended her first prom night last weekend. We all know that for any girl, attending a prom is a milestone in our lives.

The preparation started a month before by choosing her gown, the next week would be the shoes and then I had to have her accessory customized for her gown.

The days before were dedicated to beauty preparation such having her nails done, waxing, threading, etc. And of course, the day itself has to be for the hair and make up. Oh my! My husband could only sigh at the preparation for this event.

Well, it was worth it. My daughter enjoyed the night. I feel so good to be able to be with her during the momentous occasion in her life. I know that this will have a significant and lasting effect on her. Even the smallest things count when it comes to spending time with our children, such as being there during their performances, going with them to buy their kikay stuff such bags, shoes, and even lingerie. Just to hear to your child say “Thank you!” is the most rewarding experience of all. Nothing beats that!

Bazaar Business

Written on November 3rd, 2011 by sassymomno shouts

Yes, I have ventured into another business, the bazaar business! Together with my sis-in-law, we decided to take the risk knowing that everybody will be rushing to buy stuff for Christmas gift-giving. This is the business I was talking about in my other blog.  I couldn’t hush up because of the excitement and finally we are operational. So far, so good! We are expecting sales to peak up some more come December.

As I observe the saleable items, I am amazed. I refuse to think that I am not a trendsetter, it’s just that I have my own fashion statement. But I guess as entrepreneurs, we need to adjust to what the market dictates and not be stubborn about what we thing will sell — that is the first lesson we have learned.

Going around, I am surprised to see items that sell like the trend now are “Angry Birds”, anything about it. I have also funny shirts that spoof brands, couple shirts, and of course, accessories. However, people who have been in the bazaar business tells me that come December, everything sells. Since people love to give during Christmas.

I am praying that this venture will prosper and that even if it’s not Christmas, we will still find the right location to sell our goods.

Summer Fashion

Written on March 29th, 2011 by sassymomno shouts

Beach BodI was dressing up for a lunch date with my hubby’s family and as I was choosing my clothes, I can feel the temperature rising. The heat is on! Summer is definitely here. I decided to wear the most comfortable clothing I have.

In a tropical country like the Philippines, the heat dictates what you wear but it should not stop from being chic and fabulous all summer. Now that summer is here, it’s time to flaunt to those summer dresses which will make you looking fab and comfy while strolling under the sun.

In the Phils., urban clothes should always be comfortable. Humidity is a common foe so it is a must to wear clothing that will let your skin breathe.

Time to gear up for the summer! I promise to have a good tan this summer.

Still on shopping

Written on February 4th, 2011 by sassymomno shouts

Black Friday or the day after Thanksgiving is the busiest shopping day of the year. How I wish I can be in the US at this time to take the opportunity to make my Christmas shopping early or better yet, I wish we can have a day like that here in the Philippines. Where all the prices are unbelievably marked down.

Honestly, after the Christmas season I tend to tone down my shopping spree despite all the “SALE” marked in the windows of the department store but now that I will once again travel, I need some winter clothes and I am looking for bargain finds. Of course, always being a smart shopper. Especially with all the prices going up nowadays, we need to be clever in what we spend on. Bargain prices without sacrificing the quality, right?
