Recently, I enrolled in a basic Photoshop class with Leo Castillo of Photoworks Academy. I enrolled because I wanted to learn how to enhance my photos and with Leo as the teacher, I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed. I took up basic photography class with him and I truly appreciated his approach.
I was right! I learned the basic techniques of Photoshop and more– Less lecture but more on actual, hands on training. I never thought I would learn so much in four sessions coming from zero based knowledge, but I did!
After learning the basic skills, I thought it was enough but he included a couple of advanced techniques like the liquify, blur and other effects. I had fun throughout the session.
Now, I have learned that all those magazine covers are enhanced through Photoshop. It’s interesting how you can make a person appear younger just by some quick touches using Photoshop. Good thing I still wouldn’t have to do it on my own photo but if I have to, I’d probably do, just for appearance sake. But before that happens, like any other women out there, I am trying to delay the ageing process by using anti-wrinkle creams as early as now.
There are a lot of anti-wrinkle creams out there that are recognized by dermatologists, it’s up to you to choose the best that will work for your skin.
As much as possible, we want our beauty to be as natural as it can be not a Photoshop-ed beauty.

Puffy eyes? Dark circles under the eyes? These are very common among bloggers like me. Since most of the work I do comes after the kids are tucked in their beds, I most often suffer from puffy eyes the following morning. However I have learned some tricks to get rid of dark circles under eyes.
- Cucumber and tea bag – apply a cool cucumber on top of your closed eyes for 15 to 20 minutes. If you don’t have cucumber at home, use a tea bag. Place it inside the fridge and once it’s cold, place it over your eyes for 10 – 15 minutes. You can opt to have chamomile, since it is believed to have a very relaxing effect.
- Moisturize – apply a moisturizing cream under the skin before going to bed. But keep in mind that the skin under our eyes is very thin, so use your ring finger (it doesn’t have too much force) to apply a dab of cream and gently massage it.
- Sleeping position – head should be slightly elevated when you sleep. Avoid using very flat pillow or a very high one. Gravity will cause fluid to accumulate in your lower eyelids which can create shadows.
- Protect your eyes from the sun –apply eye creams with at least SPF 15 at least thirty minutes before sun exposure.
- Cover up – Concealer is my personal favourite. It brings wonders to my eyes and according to beauty expert, Bobbi Brown, “Concealer is the secret of the beauty universe.”
The next you get those dark circles, try these tricks, it might work!
All acne starts with a comedo, a plug of keratin and sebum (oil) within the dilated hair follicle that oftentimes contain bacteria.
Acne can be categorized into two – the inflammatory acne and non-inflammatory acne. The non-inflammatory acne includes the more common whiteheads and blackheads. While the inflammatory ones or those that are most bothersome are the Papule, Pustule, Nodule (Cyst) and the most severe type is the Acne Conglobata.
The best way to fight acne is to understand what you are up against. Acne is not a life-threatening disease however it can cause a great deal of anxiety and emotional trauma especially to teenagers. But, before you spend a huge number of cash on prescription acne medication and other expensive acne treatments, it is best to consult the medical experts. Visit your dermatologist so they can recommend the proper treatment.
Have you ever noticed those pimples breaking out whenever you’re rushing to meet the deadline, during final exams or whenever you are under a lot of pressure? The skin is one of the first places that show signs of stress.
Although there are many factors that cause acne or pimple outbreak, stress is considered one of main culprits. However we want to look good under a stressful situation the skin, being the largest organ in our body, has direct connections to our brain and its negative effects manifest physically. A headache you can camouflage but a pimple mark can be noticed very easily.
Stress affects your body in a lot of different ways both emotionally and physically. When you experience stress, our hormones act up causing a lot of changes in our body such as slow digestion, faster heartbeat and when it comes to skin – it reduces the lipid barrier allowing fluid to evaporate more quickly thereby resulting to dryness. Dryness can cause acne.
One way to avoid stress is to understand what causes it. You should be able to pinpoint your stressors in order better manage your stress. Stress free means acnefree.
Everyone wants to look young and in search for the perfect anti-aging product, even the average health consumers are spending bucks to get the results they want. Do these products really work?
As for me, I have been a believer of many facial products especially the ones that enables the skin to retain the moisture it needs.
With a lot of anti-wrinkle products coming out in the market today, the effectiveness of these products really depends on a lot of factors. These factors include exposure to harsh elements like the sun and other environmental pollutants, presence of an illness and of course, ageing. As a person ages, the skin loses its elasticity therefore diminishing the ability to retain moisture and skin cells divide a lot slower. Consequently the skin becomes dry. Dry skin is more prone to wrinkling.
Anti-wrinkle creams that are available over the counter may improve (to some extent) the appearance of your skin but do not expect an instant facelift. In using a product that promises dramatic improvements on your skin, it is always best to do your own research regarding its active ingredients, the proper usage and of course the price, so you can get the best value for your money.
The web offers a great deal of relevant information regarding product information such as anti wrinkle cream reviews. It is up for you to discern what product will best suit your needs.
